| | Lotus Eclat Riviera .
This is prob one of the most desirable spec Eclats you will come across. 1982 Riviera model so one of the last ones, in the "James Bond" bronze colour ...> and tan half leather interior. Later 2.2ltr engine, Speedline wheels, electric headlamp motors (no horrible vacuum issues), galvanised chassis. Removeable sunroof panel, complete with original bag.Receipts and history back to 1988, Maintained and owned by a Lotus enthusiast for many years, who sold due to ill health. The car was then taken on and restored by a well known Lotus enthusiast.Wheels were refurbed, leather interior reconnolised, although the passenger seat has one split requiring attention, new headlining, new sunroof seal (no leaks) etc etc etc...New Yokohama tyres in the correct sizes. I acquired the car in 2010, and since then have fitted a new water pump, rear wheel bearing and UJ.I have relocated to France and am selling as I don`t use it enough over here. The car is located within easy reach of Limoges Airport. X

1,055 kg (2,330 lb) The Type 76 and Type 84 Lotus Eclat, built from 1974 to 1982, was a front engine rear drive coupe. It was based on the Lotus Elite but had a fastback body style which offered more practicality with storage in the boot (trunk).
The Eclat Series 1 (1974–1980) used a 1973 cc 160 hp (120 kW) Lotus 907 Slant Four engine. Later cars (1980–1982) used a larger 2174 cc Lotus 912 engine, however, because of emission regulations modifications it still only produced 160 hp (120 kW). Both were versions of the Lotus 900 series engine series, which was also used in naturally aspirated and turbo charged versions in the Lotus Esprit.
The car was priced at $28,400 in 1979, which was almost as much as a Mercedes-Benz 450 SL ($28,687).[1]
[edit] Chassis This section does not cite any references or sources.
Please help improve this article by adding citations to reliable sources. Unsourced material may be challenged and removed. (April 2010) The original mild steel chassis fitted by Lotus supported the glassfibre body at the rear by sandwiching a strip of felt, which fitted between body and the steel crossmember of the chassis. In damp climates, the felt became a water trap and caused structural corrosion, resulting in a crumbling rear chassis. Chassis replacement is not cost effective on these vehicles (Elite and Eclat) and by consequence resale values suffered hugely. Series 2 cars were fitted with a galvanised chassis as standard and a large number of series 1 vehicles have had replacements fitted, which are usually galvanised. The tainted reputation of these vehicles caused by rotting chassis (and other minor irks) has made surviving cars one of the best UK exotic sports car bargains, especially the S2's (or S1's which have been loved enough by a previous owner to fit a galvanised chassis).

v • d • e || Before you go any further... This site was built a long time ago and was devoted to one issue...Lotuses - including mine (please DO NOT now send e-mails on what the plural of 'Lotus' is - 'Lotuses' is how it stays!!) However life moves on and other facets of life introduce themselves. I've therefore kept this as the main site because I know a lot of people access it and have bookmarked it, but I've attached more of my inane ramblings about other things on these pages, on the offchance that it's not too boring. Here you can read about a new life in New Zealand, speed hump research for my degree (as part of my Paramedic life in the London Ambulance Service), climbing mountains, stupid 'sporting'- and I use that word in its loosest possible sense - achievements, and other stuff that for some reason we seem happy to publish to millions of strangers on the interweb but would not voluntarily tell someone we didn't know from Adam who just turned up on the doorstep.
